- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- street: as used in this Part shall mean any public highway, boulevard, esplanade, square or street, or any part or side of the same, within the limits of any incorporated municipality having a population in excess of fifty thousand inhabitants. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3721
At the end of the period designated in the ordinance the municipality shall proceed to widen the street named therein, and to that end shall acquire by purchase, condemnation or otherwise, the land necessary for the widening, and the owner shall be entitled to such damages as he may be entitled to under the law, where private property is taken for public use.
