- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
The clerks of court in preparing mortgage certificates shall not include notarial bonds thereon unless an action has been commenced on the bond and a notice of lis pendens has been filed in connection therewith as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 35:73.
