Louisiana Revised Statutes 36:703 – Chief deputy attorney general
There shall be a chief deputy attorney general of the department, who shall be appointed by the attorney general with consent of the Senate and who shall serve at the pleasure of the attorney general at a salary fixed by the attorney general, which salary shall not exceed the amount approved for such position by the legislature while in session. The chief deputy attorney general shall be the first assistant of the attorney general and shall be appointed pursuant to La. Const. Art. IV, § 13 . The duties and functions of the chief deputy attorney general shall be determined and assigned by the attorney general. He shall serve as acting attorney general in the absence of the attorney general as provided by the constitution and by law.
