- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
All public officers who are required to give bond and have availed themselves of the privilege to give a special mortgage, are authorized to have this mortgage transferred to other property, by applying to the governor in the manner specified in La. Rev. Stat. 42:202.
