- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, a nonresident may participate in Louisiana in a field trial conducted by recognized field trial associations that are registered with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries using dogs in such field trial without being required to obtain any hunting license so long as the field trial association has given to the office of wildlife and the enforcement division of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, at least five days prior to the date of such field trial, notice of the dates and place of the trial. Such notice may be given electronically through fascimile or e-mail. Requirements for registration of field trial associations will be established by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Participants may carry firearms and discharge live ammunition during such field trials, if required to do so by the rules of the field trial.
