Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 4001

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • in writing: include printing and other modes of making legible words. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
Whoever has a lien on personal property in that person’s possession which is not covered by Title 11, Article 9-A may enforce it by a sale thereof in the manner provided for in the contract creating such lien, if in writing, or as hereinafter provided for in this chapter.
