- Compensatory damages: includes , but is not limited to, past and future medical expenses, lost earnings, pain, suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 14 Sec. 8305
- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- Municipal officers: means the mayor and municipal officers or councilors of a city, the members of the select board or councilors of a town and the assessors of a plantation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
- Town: includes cities and plantations, unless otherwise expressed or implied. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
