- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
A period of probation is completed when the last day of the period, excluding any days during which the running of the period of probation is tolled, ends. [PL 2021, c. 608, Pt. D, §4 (NEW).]
