Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 17 Sec. 2272

  • Litter: includes waste materials resulting from or associated with the use of tobacco products, including, but not limited to, cigarette butts, all waste materials resulting from the outdoor release or abandonment of a balloon and all waste materials resulting from the use of consumer fireworks. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 17 Sec. 2263
  • Person: means any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation or organization of any kind whatsoever. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 17 Sec. 2263
No person shall deposit household garbage, leaves, clippings, prunings or gardening refuse in any litter receptacle. [PL 1975, c. 739, §15 (NEW).]
Persons violating the provisions of this section are liable for the same penalties as provided for violation of section 2264-A. [PL 2003, c. 452, Pt. I, §43 (AMD); PL 2003, c. 452, Pt. X, §2 (AFF).]
