In respect to a nonresident decedent, the provisions of Article 3 govern: [PL 2017, c. 402, Pt. A, §2 (NEW); PL 2019, c. 417, Pt. B, §14 (AFF).]
1. Court proceedings in this State. Proceedings, if any, in a court of this State for probate of the will, appointment, removal, supervision and discharge of the local personal representative and any other order concerning the estate; and

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 4-207
- Decedent: A deceased person.
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- Local administration: means administration by a personal representative appointed in this State pursuant to appointment proceedings described in Article 3. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 4-101
- Local personal representative: includes any personal representative appointed in this State pursuant to appointment proceedings described in Article 3 and excludes foreign personal representatives who acquire the power of a local personal representative pursuant to section 4-205. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 4-101
- Probate: Proving a will
2. Rights of local personal representative and parties. The status, powers, duties and liabilities of any local personal representative and the rights of claimants, purchasers, distributees and others in regard to a local administration.
