Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 9-314
- Child: means a person who is under 18 years of age. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 9-102
- Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 18-C Sec. 9-102
A person, including an agent of the department, who participates in good faith in reporting violations of this Article or participates in a related child protection investigation or proceeding is immune from any criminal or civil liability for reporting or participating in the investigation or proceeding. For purposes of this section, “good faith” does not include instances when a false report is made and the person knows the report is false. [PL 2017, c. 402, Pt. A, §2 (NEW); PL 2019, c. 417, Pt.
