1. Scope. This subchapter governs procedures and requirements of genetic testing and genetic testing results of an individual to determine parentage and adjudication of parentage based on genetic testing, whether the individual voluntarily submits to testing or is tested pursuant to an order of the court or the department.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1901
- Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services and its agents and authorized representatives. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 101
- Genetic testing: includes an analysis of one or a combination of the following:

See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1832 Parentage: means the legal relationship between a child and a parent as established in this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 1832 Person: means an individual, trust, estate, partnership, association, company, corporation, political subdivision of the State, instrumentality of the State or other entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 101
2. Genetic testing. Genetic testing may not be used to challenge the parentage of a person who is a parent by operation of law under subchapter 7 or 8 or to establish the parentage of a person who is a donor.
