Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 13702
- Department: means the Department of Education. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
- School administrative unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration and includes a municipal school unit, school administrative district, community school district, regional school unit or any other municipal or quasi-municipal corporation responsible for operating or constructing public schools, except that it does not include a career and technical education region. - system: means a method developed in compliance with this chapter by which educators are evaluated, rated on the basis of effectiveness and provided opportunities for professional growth. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 13701
Each school administrative unit shall develop and implement a performance evaluation and professional growth system for educators. The system must meet the criteria set forth in this chapter and rules adopted pursuant to this chapter and must be approved by the department. [PL 2011, c. 635, Pt. A, §3 (NEW).]
