There is created and established the Department of Transportation to consist of a Commissioner of Transportation appointed by the Governor, subject to review by the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over transportation and to confirmation by the Legislature, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 4205
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Transportation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 4203
- Department: means the Department of Transportation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 4203
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Transportation: means any form of transportation for people or goods within, to or from the State, whether by highway, air, water or rail. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 23 Sec. 4203
