1. Dependent child; definition. As used in this section, “dependent child” means the child of a person covered under a group health insurance policy.

- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
- health insurance: means insurance of human beings against bodily injury, disablement or death by accident or accidental means, or the expense thereof, or against disablement or expense resulting from sickness, and every insurance appertaining thereto, including provision for the mental and emotional welfare of human beings by defraying the costs of legal services only to the extent provided for in chapter 38. 2. Offer of coverage. Notwithstanding section 2822, a group health insurance policy that offers coverage for a dependent child must offer such coverage, at the option of the parent, until the dependent child attains 26 years of age. If the dependent child has a disability, the policy must offer coverage in accordance with section 2833?C.
