Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 4320

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC

  • Health plan: means a plan offered or administered by a carrier that provides for the financing or delivery of health care services to persons enrolled in the plan, other than a plan that provides only accidental injury, specified disease, hospital indemnity, Medicare supplement, disability income, long-term care or other limited benefit coverage not subject to the requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act.     3. Application. This section applies to health plans offered or renewed in this State in the individual, small group and large group markets, as those markets are defined under applicable federal law. A health plan may contain annual dollar limits to the extent allowed under the federal Affordable Care Act as of January 1, 2019 if the plan has been continuously renewed since that date, but the plan may not impose any new limits or reduce any existing limit in effect as of January 1, 2019.
