- Town: includes cities and plantations, unless otherwise expressed or implied. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
Plantations are subject to chapter 187 regarding planning and land use powers and duties in the same manner as a town or city, except as otherwise provided in chapter 187.
