- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Correctional facility: means any facility that falls under the jurisdiction of the department, but does not include any facility for which the department is required to establish standards pursuant to section 1208 or 1208?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 1001
- Department: means the Department of Corrections. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 1001
- in writing: include printing and other modes of making legible words. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Juvenile: means a person under the age of 18 years or a person who is alleged to have committed, while under the age of 18 years, any acts or offenses covered by Title 15, Part 6, regardless of whether, at the time of the proceeding, the person is of the age of 18 years or over. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 5001
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
- Probation: means a procedure under which a person found guilty of an offense is released by the court, without being committed to a correctional facility, or with or without commitment to jail or fine, subject to conditions imposed by the court. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 5001
