Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-B Sec. 5607

• Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Health and Human Services or the commissioner's designee, except that when the term "commissioner and only the commissioner" is used, the term applies only to the person appointed Commissioner of Health and Human Services and not to any designee. • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
• Person: means an adult with an intellectual disability or autism. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-B Sec. 5001
• Person receiving services: means a person with an intellectual disability or autism receiving services from the department or from an agency or facility licensed or funded to provide services to persons with intellectual disabilities or autism except those presently serving sentences for crime. • Provider: means an entity, organization or individual providing services to an adult with an intellectual disability or autism, funded in whole or in part or licensed or certified by the department. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-B Sec. 5601
