1. Orders temporarily amended. When the commission finds it necessary to prevent injury to a public utility‘s business or to the interest of the people, or if the commission finds there is an emergency, it may temporarily alter, amend or, with the public utility’s consent, suspend existing rates, schedules or orders affecting the public utility. When the commission finds it necessary to prevent injury to a competitive electricity provider’s business or to the interest of the people, or if the commission finds there is an emergency, it may temporarily alter, amend or, with the competitive electricity provider’s consent, suspend existing orders affecting the competitive electricity provider.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 1322
- Commission: means the Public Utilities Commission. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 102
- Public utility: includes every gas utility, natural gas pipeline utility, transmission and distribution utility, telephone utility, water utility and ferry, as those terms are defined in this section, and each of those utilities is declared to be a public utility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 102
2. Rates. Rates made under this section:

B. Take effect and remain in force as the commission prescribes. [PL 1987, c. 141, Pt. A, §6 (NEW).]

3. Limitation of authority. Nothing in this section is intended to grant the commission authority to establish or approve the rates charged by competitive electricity providers.
