1. Information. Shall provide customers adequate and timely information about provider of last resort service including posting in an easily discoverable location on its publicly accessible website its rate for provider of last resort service;

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 7223
- Commission: means the Public Utilities Commission. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 102
- Customer: includes any person, government or governmental division which has applied for, been accepted and is currently receiving service from a public utility. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 102
- Provider of last resort service: means a flat-rate service with voice grade access to the public switched telephone network; local usage within the basic service calling areas of incumbent local exchange carriers as of January 1, 2012; dual-tone multifrequency signaling or its functional equivalent; single-party service or its functional equivalent; access to emergency services; access to operator services; access to interexchange service; access to directory assistance; toll limitation for qualifying low-income customers; and the capacity to maintain uninterrupted voice service during a power failure, either through the incorporation into the network or network interface devices of suitable battery backup or through electric current. - Service provider: means an entity designated as a provider of provider of last resort service under this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 35-A Sec. 7201
2. Fairness. Shall treat its customers in a nondiscriminatory manner and may not unreasonably deny or disconnect provider of last resort service; and

3. Consumer protection. Shall comply with minimum consumer protection standards for provider of last resort service essential to the preservation of good quality, affordable provider of last resort service throughout the State.

A customer of a service provider may seek redress from the commission in accordance with any applicable provisions of this Title with respect to provider of last resort service, regardless of any other services the customer may take from the service provider. A service provider may not disconnect a provider of last resort service customer from provider of last resort service except in accordance with rules adopted by the commission. This section does not authorize the commission to regulate services other than provider of last resort service, including but not limited to discontinuance by the service provider of any other services to the customer.
