Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 36 Sec. 2728

  • Bureau: means the Bureau of Revenue Services, which may be referred to as "Maine Revenue Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 36 Sec. 111
  • Tax: means the total amount required to be paid, withheld and paid over or collected and paid over with respect to estimated or actual tax liability under this Title, any credit or reimbursement allowed or paid pursuant to this Title that is recoverable by the assessor and any amount assessed by the assessor pursuant to this Title, including any interest or penalties provided by law.   • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
On or before September 1st of each year, the State Tax Assessor shall provide the Director of the Bureau of Forestry within the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry with information on the number of landowners filing tax returns in accordance with this chapter, including a breakdown of the number of landowners by acreage categories. The State Tax Assessor shall consult with the Director of the Bureau of Forestry in determining the acreage categories and shall provide the information in a consistent format to facilitate comparison from year to year.
