Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 1002
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Commission: means the St. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 992
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction on audit and program review shall review the commission on or before January 1, 1996, and present its recommendations for amendment or repeal of this chapter to the Legislature. [PL 1987, c. 470, §2 (NEW).]
