- Municipal officers: means the mayor and municipal officers or councilors of a city, the members of the select board or councilors of a town and the assessors of a plantation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72

When the territory of a municipality falls within a sanitary district which has been issued its certificate of organization and has assumed the management and control of the operation of the sewage facilities within its territorial limits, the trustees of said sanitary district shall determine what sewer property or properties including treatment plants owned by any municipality within said sanitary district shall be necessary to carry on the functions of the sanitary district and shall request in writing that the municipal officers of any municipality within said sanitary district convey the title to such sewer property to such sanitary district and said municipal officers shall make such conveyance without payment of consideration.
