Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 3 Sec. 522-B

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over labor matters shall review the budget of the Workers’ Compensation Board and submit its recommendations in a written report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over appropriations and financial affairs not later than 60 days after reference of the current services budget legislation and any supplemental budget legislation to the joint standing committee having jurisdiction over appropriations and financial affairs.
