Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes > Title 4 > Chapter 27 > Subchapter 4 - Membership and Contribution

  • Accumulated contributions: means the sum of all the amounts credited to a member's individual account, together with regular interest thereon. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Actuarial equivalent: means an amount of equal value when computed at the discount rate contained in actuarial assumptions adopted by the board of trustees. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments.
  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Board: means the Manufactured Housing Board. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Board of trustees: means the board provided for in section 1231. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Code: means the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Creditable service: means membership service and prior service as a judge which is credited towards retirement in accordance with subchapter IV. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Dealer: means a person engaged in the sale, offering for sale, brokering or distribution of manufactured housing to a licensed dealer, developer dealer or consumer. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1-A
  • Developer dealer: means a person who purchases state-certified manufactured housing from a licensed manufacturer or dealer for placement on property owned by the developer dealer and who offers the manufactured housing for sale to the initial purchaser of the manufactured housing. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Earnable compensation: means the annual salary as a judge. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Educational facility: includes but is not limited to career or technical schools, high schools and postsecondary programs. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Federal manufactured home construction and safety standard: means the standard for the construction, design and performance of a manufactured home that meets the needs of the public including the need for quality, durability and safety and that has been duly adopted by the Federal Government pursuant to the National Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Act of 1974, as amended by the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000, 42 United States Code § 5401, et seq. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • in writing: include printing and other modes of making legible words. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Inspection agency: means an approved person or organization, public or private, determined by the board to be qualified by reason of facilities, personnel and demonstrated ability and independence of judgment to provide for inspection and approval of the design, construction or installation of manufactured housing in compliance with the standards and the rules adopted in accordance with this Act. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Installation: means :

  • Installer: means a person engaged in the installation or servicing of state-certified manufactured housing. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Judge: means a Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court or the Superior Court, any Judge of the District Court, any Administrative Court Judge or any Associate Administrative Court Judge who is actively serving as of December 1, 1984, or who is appointed subsequent to December 1, 1984, but does not include Active Retired Judges. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • Majority: when used in reference to age shall mean the age of 18 and over. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Manufactured housing: means a structural unit or units designed to be used as a dwelling or dwellings and constructed in a manufacturing facility and then transported by the use of its own chassis or placement on an independent chassis to a building site. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Manufacturer: means any person engaged in manufacturing or producing manufactured housing and then selling it to a dealer. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Mechanic: means an individual engaged in the installation or servicing of HUD-code or pre-HUD-code homes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Member: means a judge who is included in the membership of the Maine Judicial Retirement System as provided in section 1301. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Membership service: means service rendered while a member of the Maine Judicial Retirement System for which credit is allowed under section 1302. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Month: means a calendar month. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Multiple community water district: means that area comprising all municipalities served in whole or part by a single public water system plus those public water system zones within multiservice municipalities served by the same public water system. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Multiple community water system district-wide election: means an election held in each municipality within a multiple community water district to determine whether or not to fluoridate the water supply of that system. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Multiservice municipality: means any municipality served in whole or in part by more than one public water system. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Municipal officers: means the mayor and municipal officers or councilors of a city, the members of the select board or councilors of a town and the assessors of a plantation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Municipality: means a city, town or plantation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means an individual or entity, including but not limited to a corporation, partnership, firm, organization, company, homeowner, consumer or purchaser. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 9002
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, company, public or private corporation, political subdivision or agency of the State, department, agency or instrumentality of the United States or any other legal entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2601
  • Personal property: All property that is not real property.
  • Prior service: means all service before December 1, 1984, as a judge. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Public water system: means the public water agency, company, utility, district or other entity serving one or more municipalities in whole or in part. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Public water system zone: means any one of the 2 or more areas of a multiservice municipality served by a single public water system, as further defined in section 2657. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
  • registered mail: when used in connection with any requirement for notice by mail shall mean either registered mail or certified mail. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Registered petitioners: means those registered voters residing in a single community water district or, in the case of a multiple community water system district-wide election, those registered voters residing in the multiple community water district who have accepted the responsibility of receiving notice concerning the filing of petitions pursuant to section 2655, subsection 3. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • Regular interest: means interest at the rate which the Board of Trustees of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System sets from time to time, in accordance with Title 5, section 17156. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Retirement: means the termination of membership service with a retirement allowance granted under this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 4 Sec. 1201
  • Single community water district: means a municipality served in whole or in part by a water system which serves no other municipalities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2651-A
  • United States: includes territories and the District of Columbia. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
