Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes > Title 9-A > Article 4 - Insurance

  • Affiliate: means any of the following entities:

  • Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
  • Board: means the InforME Board established in section 534. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Customer: means a person or an authorized representative who has been personally and directly offered or presently maintains an investment security, trust, credit or an insurance product with a supervised lender. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 4-403
  • Data custodian: means any branch, agency or instrumentality of State Government or any agency or instrumentality of a political subdivision of the State that gathers, stores or generates public information. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Electronic services: means services provided by InforME through electronic means. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Fee service: means an electronic service provided for a fee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Forest products: means logs, pulpwood, veneer, bolt wood, wood chips, stud wood, poles, pilings, biomass fuel wood, fuel wood, bark or other products commonly known as forest products, but does not include Christmas trees, maple syrup, nursery products used for ornamental purposes, wreaths, bough material, cones or other seed crops.   • InforME: means the system through which the State electronically provides public information, access to public information and electronic services to individuals, businesses and other entities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Insurance consultant: means a person engaged in the business of an insurance consultant as defined in Title 24?A, section 1402, subsection 4, 8 or 11. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 4-403
  • Insurance producer: means a person required to be licensed as an insurance producer as defined in Title 24?A, section 1402, subsection 5. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 4-403
  • Insurance product: means a contract of insurance that is offered for sale by an insurance producer employed by or affiliated with a supervised lender. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 4-403
  • Landowner: means a person, company or other entity that holds title to land, including joint owners or tenants in common. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 8881
  • Legislative session: That part of a chamber's daily session in which it considers legislative business (bills, resolutions, and actions related thereto).
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Network manager: means the person under contract to carry out the duties described in section 535. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Open-end credit: A credit agreement (typically a credit card) that allows a customer to borrow against a preapproved credit line when purchasing goods and services. The borrower is only billed for the amount that is actually borrowed plus any interest due. (Also called a charge account or revolving credit.) Source: OCC
  • Ownership interest: includes general partnership shares, limited partnership shares and shares of stock that possess any voting rights. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-A Sec. 4-403
  • Personal information: means information about a natural person that readily identifies that specific person. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 541
  • Portal fee: means a fee, authorized in section 534, paid by a user for a transaction. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Premium services: means InforME services that are available only to subscribers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Public entity: means :

  • Subscriber: means an individual, business or organization who, in exchange for a fee established under section 534, subsection 5, paragraph G, subparagraph (8), receives access to premium services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 532
  • Subsidiary: means any corporation, partnership, association or other business entity in which either:

  • Transaction: means a transaction between a user and a data custodian involving electronic services, including but not limited to: the submission by a user of an application, registration or other document; the purchase by a user of a permit, license or other document or service; the payment of a tax, fee, fine or other charge; and the retrieval of records.
