Terms Used In Maryland Code, CRIMINAL LAW 9-806

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Nothing in this subtitle may be construed inconsistently with the provisions relating to jurisdiction over juvenile causes contained in Title 3, Subtitle 8A of the Courts Article.
