Terms Used In Maryland Code, CRIMINAL PROCEDURE 11-627

The power of attorney may be for a definite, specific act, or it may be general in nature. The terms of the written power of attorney may specify when it will expire. Any action that a defendant takes to defeat the purpose of Part II of this subtitle, including an execution of a power of attorney, creation of a corporate entity, or designation of the defendant’s interest, is void as against public policy.
