Terms Used In Maryland Code, ENVIRONMENT 9-402

state: means :

(1) a state, possession, territory, or commonwealth of the United States; or

(2) the District of Columbia. See

The purpose of this subtitle is to ensure that this State has the primary enforcement responsibility for drinking water standards under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
