- Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
Except as provided in § 10-309 of this subtitle, this subtitle does not apply to bail bondsmen that provide bail bondsman services under § 5-203 of the Criminal Procedure Article.
