Terms Used In Maryland Code, STATE GOVERNMENT 10-102

  • state: means :

    (1) a state, possession, territory, or commonwealth of the United States; or

    (2) the District of Columbia. See
(a) Except as otherwise expressly provided by law, this subtitle applies to:

(1) each unit in the Executive Branch of the State government; and

(2) each unit that:

(i) is created by public general law; and

(ii) operates in at least 2 counties.

(b) This subtitle does not apply to:

(1) a unit in the Legislative Branch of the State government;

(2) a unit in the Judicial Branch of the State government;

(3) a board of license commissioners;

(4) the Rural Maryland Council; or

(5) the Military Department.
