Terms Used In Maryland Code, STATE GOVERNMENT 8-303

  • state: means :

    (1) a state, possession, territory, or commonwealth of the United States; or

    (2) the District of Columbia. See
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
If the name of a unit in the Executive Branch of the State government is set by statute, the name may be changed only by another statute.
