Section 129. A railroad corporation may relocate passenger stations and freight depots, with the written approval of the department and of the board of aldermen of the city or the selectmen of the town where such stations or depots are situated.

Terms Used In Massachusetts General Laws ch. 160 sec. 129

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • selectmen: includes the board or other authority exercising the powers of a board of aldermen or of selectmen; but nothing herein shall be construed as affecting the veto power of a mayor of any city. See Massachusetts General Laws ch. 160 sec. 1
