- Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
An assignee in insolvency or trustee in bankruptcy shall be entitled to the entry of a new certificate of registered land of the debtor or bankrupt upon presenting and filing a certified copy of the assignment in insolvency or decree of adjudication in bankruptcy; but the new certificate shall state that it is entered to him as assignee in insolvency or trustee in bankruptcy.
