Massachusetts General Laws ch. 90 sec. 24R – Revocation for life of license or right to operate
Section 24R. (a) Notwithstanding section 24 or section 24D, the registrar shall revoke for life the license or right to operate of a person assigned to an alcohol or controlled substance education, treatment, or rehabilitation program or convicted of a violation of subsection (a) of section 24G, operating a motor vehicle with a percentage by weight of blood alcohol of eight one-hundredths or greater, or while under the influence of intoxicating liquor in violation of subsection (b) of said section 24G, section 24L, section 8A or 8B of chapter 90B, or section 131/2 of chapter 265 who has previously been convicted of a violation of subdivision (a) of section 24 or a like violation in another jurisdiction.

- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
(b) Notwithstanding section 24, the registrar shall revoke for life the license or right to operate of any person convicted of a violation of subdivision (a) of section 24G who has previously been assigned to an alcohol or controlled substance education, treatment, or rehabilitation program by a court of the commonwealth, or convicted of violation of paragraph (a) of subdivision (1) of section 24, subsection (a) of section 24G, operating a motor vehicle with a percentage by weight of blood alcohol of eight one-hundredths or greater, or while under the influence of intoxicating liquor in violation of subsection (b) of said section 24G, section 24L, subsection (a) of section 8 of chapter 90B, or section 8A or 8B of chapter 90B, section 131/2 of chapter 265 or a like violation in another jurisdiction.
