Terms Used In Massachusetts General Laws > Chapter 259 - Prevention of Frauds and Perjuries

  • Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
  • Attorney-at-law: A person who is legally qualified and licensed to practice law, and to represent and act for clients in legal proceedings.
