- Devise: To gift property by will.
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC

- Sewage disposal system: includes all interceptor sewers, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, combined sanitary and storm sewers, sewage treatment plants, and all other plants, works, instrumentalities, and properties used or useful in connection with the collection, treatment, or disposal of sewage or industrial wastes. - Solid waste management system: includes all plants, works, instrumentalities, and properties used or useful in connection with the collection, transportation, processing, or disposal of discarded or waste materials of any sort, including access roads and facilities for resource recovery. - Water supply system: includes all plants, works, instrumentalities, and properties used or useful in connection with obtaining a water supply, the treatment of water, or the distribution of water. See Michigan Laws 124.281
The authority may acquire property for a sewage disposal system, a water supply system, a solid waste management system, or a combination of systems by purchase, construction, lease, gift, or devise, either within or without its corporate limits, and may hold, manage, control, sell, exchange, or lease the property. For the purpose of condemnation, the authority may proceed under the provisions of Act No. 149 of the Public Acts of 1911, as amended, being section 213.21 to 213.41 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, or any other statute which grants to any municipality or public body the authority to acquire private property for public use.
