- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
All powers, duties and functions of the Michigan corporation and securities commission under the provisions of Act No. 265 of the Public Acts of 1964, as amended, being section 451.501 to 451.818 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, are transferred to the department of commerce.
