Terms Used In Michigan Laws 252.211

  • Fee simple: Absolute title to property with no limitations or restrictions regarding the person who may inherit it.
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
     The interests in land authorized to be acquired under this act may be the fee simple or any lesser estate, as determined by the state highway department to be reasonably necessary to accomplish the purposes of this act. Acquisitions may be by gift, purchase, exchange or condemnation and shall be made in accordance with statutes governing acquisitions for highway purposes.
