Terms Used In Michigan Laws 254.102

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.      The state highway commissioner is authorized to carry out or assume the obligations of any contracts now existing with railroad companies or other corporations or persons with respect to rentals, damages, use, improvement, repair and maintenance of said bridge. Said state highway commissioner is authorized to make contracts for the enjoyment of the use of said bridge, jointly with railroad companies or other corporations or persons, and for the future maintenance, repair and improvement thereof, and to execute any leases, or other agreements necessary and proper in the premises.
