Terms Used In Michigan Laws 331.55
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Governing body: means the board charged with the governing of the incorporating unit. See Michigan Laws 331.33
- Incorporating unit: means a county, city, village, or township or a combination of 1 or more counties, cities, villages, or townships incorporating a local authority pursuant to this act. See Michigan Laws 331.33
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
Amendments may be made to articles of incorporation if adopted by the governing body of the incorporating unit. No amendment shall impair the obligation of any bond or other contract. Each amendment shall be adopted, executed and published and certified printed copies filed, in the same manner as the original articles of incorporation.
