Terms Used In Michigan Laws 339.5917

  • Antique steam boiler: means a boiler that is no longer used in production applications and is used to demonstrate the historical significance of steam boilers in American history. See Michigan Laws 339.5901
  • Board: means the board of boiler rules described in section 905. See Michigan Laws 339.5901
  • Boiler: means a closed vessel in which water is heated, steam is generated, or steam is superheated, or a combination of those actions occurs, under pressure or vacuum by the application of heat from combustible fuels, electricity, or nuclear energy. See Michigan Laws 339.5901
  • Department: means the department of licensing and regulatory affairs. See Michigan Laws 339.5103
    An antique steam boiler shall comply with the rules promulgated by the board and shall be inspected once every 3 years. An owner of an antique steam boiler may request an inspection more often than every 3 years. An antique steam boiler used for commercial purposes shall be inspected annually. The department shall issue a certificate of inspection if the antique steam boiler is in compliance with the applicable rules.
