- Adjutant general: means the adjutant general of this state. See Michigan Laws 35.922
- Board: means the state administrative board. See Michigan Laws 35.922
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The state administrative board shall have general charge and supervision over the administration of the provisions of this act; shall approve the forms of applications; shall direct the adjutant general in relation to his duties hereunder; shall fix the number of persons employed in carrying out the provisions of this act and make all necessary rules in relation to any matter prescribed by this act. The board shall have authority to determine any claim in any case where a doubt arises as to the eligibility of an applicant to receive payment and the decision of the board in such case shall be final, subject to the right of review by a court of competent jurisdiction: Provided, That the power of the board to so determine any claim shall be and is suspended until July 1, 1951.
