- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
The state board of education shall elect a president, a secretary, a treasurer and such other officers as it deems necessary. The treasurer shall furnish a corporate surety bond in a sum determined by the board as adequate to cover the funds to be handled by him and conditioned upon the faithful discharge of his duties. The cost of the bond shall be paid by the state and the bond shall be filed in the office of the secretary of state.
