Terms Used In Michigan Laws 429.103

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
     Any person or persons who shall sell to another any wheat as Michigan wheat or the product of this state, knowing the same to be in whole or in part the product of any other state or country, shall be liable to the person or persons to whom the same is so sold in an action on this statute for double the amount of damages which he shall have sustained by reason of any breach in the contract of sale.
