(1) A lease, although subject to this article, is also subject to all of the following:
(a) A certificate of title statute of this state, including, but not limited to, part 803 (watercraft transfer and certificate of title) of the natural resources and environmental protection act, Act No. 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being section 324.80301 to 324.80322 of the Michigan Compiled Laws; the mobile home commission act, Act No. 96 of the Public Acts of 1987, being section 125.2301 to 125.2349 of the Michigan Compiled Laws; and chapter II of the Michigan vehicle code, Act No. 300 of the Public Acts of 1949, being section 257.201 to 257.259 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.

- Consumer: means an individual who enters into a transaction primarily for personal, family, or household purposes. See Michigan Laws 440.1201
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See Michigan Laws 440.1201
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
(b) A certificate of title statute of another jurisdiction (section 2A105).
(c) The Michigan consumer protection act, Act No. 331 of the Public Acts of 1976, being section 445.901 to 445.922 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.
(2) Except for sections 2A105, 2A304(3), and 2A305(3), in case of conflict between this article and a statute referred to in subsection (1), the statute controls.
(3) Failure to comply with any applicable statute has only the effect specified in the statute.
