- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
When such proprietors shall be organized as a corporation in the manner hereinbefore provided, they shall have all the powers and privileges, and be subject to all the duties of a corporation, according to the provisions of chapter 55, so far as such provisions shall be applicable in such case, and not inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter.
