- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
The constitution or articles of association under which any such association may be organized, may stand in lieu of the articles of agreement required to be executed by section 2 of said act of 1857; and such constitution or articles of association may provide for the election of the trustees and other officers of such association annually or semi-annually, as the case may be: Provided, That nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to legalize any provision that may be contained in any such constitution or articles of association which is repugnant to the laws of this state, or to public justice.
