- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
Any church society incorporated under the provisions of this act, at a meeting called for that purpose of which 4 weeks’ notice has been given by announcement at regular services, by a vote of 2/3 of all the qualified members present and voting, may amend its articles of association in any way not inconsistent with the provisions of this act, or the form of government of the Presbyterian Church (USA); and such amendment shall become operative when a certificate such as is provided for in section 2 and 3 shall be executed and acknowledged by the trustees of the corporation and the same duly recorded as therein provided, showing such action and containing a copy of the amended articles.
